"The only easy day was yesterday"
Alvarez Hockey School is a hockey learning experience that was started in 2020. As we know, 2020 was the year of Covid and effected everyone in many ways. Many hockey programs were paused or cancelled. In the middle of an already unusual hockey season, Illinois shutdown hockey. Adam Alvarez started this school to help youth hockey players stay sharp on their skills and to have a distraction from all the issues of Covid. The school is designed to work on their game and take it to the next level.
We also have adult clinics to help older players improve their game. As a veteran owned business, we try to help our fellow veterans and give them an outlet to relieve stress. Alvarez Hockey School tries to help everyone and build a fun educational culture.
Adam Alvarez is currently a level 5 USA hockey master coach in the Chicagoland area. He has over 30 years of hockey playing experience and has been coaching since 2005. He started his coaching career as an assistant coach under a level 5 master coach. After a few years of learning, he then moved on to start his head coaching career. Coach Alvarez took a seven year leave to serve the country in the US Army. This time helped to sharpen his leadership skills and learn more about teaching and coaching others. He currently is a coach in the Chicagoland area and has returned to one of his passions of helping youth players improve in the game they love.
Coach Alvarez is also the Hockey Director for the Chicago Mouthy Mercs Charity Hockey Club. This adult hockey club plays in many charity hockey events like Puck Caner and Pucks for Autism.
Coach Michelle is one of our newest coaches and a former goalie. Michelle Burgess learned to play hockey when she was 7 years old and has continued to play for over 25 years. She started playing on team GWA (Girls with Attitude) at Santa’s Village where she started her goalie career. She played on various hockey teams growing up and participated in many power skating and goalie camps over the years. She
ultimately ended up playing goalie for the Crystal Lake South High School
Varsity hockey team and has played on various Women’s and Co-Ed teams since
then. Coach Michelle is excited to start her coaching career, and to share her skills and knowledge of the goalie position and the sport of hockey with others.
